I don't really care if there are multiple channels at ALL. I'm simply going to u/l mine in ASS format as a final draft because the SSA format subs are so hard to see and they mix in with the background.

I like the show, but i can't understand why they use voiceovers for the western reporters, i thought first that they jsut parodied US news but these actors are on stage with downtown as far as i can see, so why not just western actors who speak japanese ?

Well, I think the system is that the Japanese talent (as some big names do the voices for Giles et al) have a system where they speak a 1/2 sec. into the foreigner's earphones before the voice is played on outside audio so the foreigner can gesture and make it look like he's speaking Japanese. Believe me when I say that it is VERY HARD to find a Japanese speaking foreigner that it funny Patrick what's his name (from the manzai Pakkun Makkun) tried it and he was HORRIBLE, and he was trained in Harvard. Then there's utter dearth of cultural knowledge that makes it impossible for even those foreigners to make funny jokes. Furthermore, all successful Japanese comedy talent have gone through a decade of Yoshimoto training and that can't be replaced by simple talent.

I think it's a great system because it allows the Japanese to get away with murder by filtering it through gaijin who traditionally are known to be rude. If it was a bunch of Japanese sitting there it would be all in keigo and dry as all hell.
