Japanese Characters

Hello everybody.

I’ve formatted my PC several weeks ago. Unfortunately, now I can see every character from oriental languages as little squares with a numerical code in it.

My question is the following: How can I install the japanese character set so it can appear on my screen?

Thank you in advance. ;)

Just till step 3 i think.

Before we can help - which operating system is installed on your PC? Linux, Windows XP , Windows 7 …

if he would had windows 7 he would have no problems.

Go to the Regional and Language Options in the Control Panel
There are 3 tabs on the top of the page that will open up in the “Region and Language Options” area.

From here click the 3rd tab on the top labeled “Advanced”.
In Code page conversion tables Box you just check Japanese or even other languages and apply.

You might need to do that. Click on the one labeled “Languages”.

If you want to be able to type Japanese in ALL programs installed on Windows XP then check the checkbox that says “Install files for East Asian languages”. This will NOT require your Windows XP disk, but it will take a few minutes depending on your computer’s specs.

Sorry, I forgot to post again.

Thank you very much for your help. Now I’m able to see every korean & japanese characters.

Take care!
